Pop-rock band Sodagreen just wrapped up their 20th anniversary concert tour in Kaohsiung over the weekend, joined by 24,000 fans in total. They performed one hit song after another at a stage designed by a world-class team. But fans were treated to more than the music. Let’s see what it was.

All six members of Sodagreen grace the stage of Kaohsiung Arena for the finale of their 20th anniversary concert tour.

They performed one hit after another on Saturday and Sunday evening. During an interval, lead singer Wu Qing-feng remarked how great Kaohsiung Arena is, unlike some other place with a hollow foundation that puts the blame on musicians when the crowd goes wild. It appeared to be a thinly veiled shade at the Taipei Arena. It was there when the band got fined in 2016 for sending tremors that exceeded the maximum permitted magnitude through the neighborhood. This wasn’t the first time Wu threw shade at government officials. Here’s what he said about then-Hualien Commissioner, and current lawmaker Fu Kun-chi, in 2013.

The money spent on fireworks can be better spent on school lunch for so many kids. No offence, commissioner, but I really do think it’s really not good how every municipality tries to outdo one another with the amount of money spent on fireworks.

More than their music, fans also love how frank the lead singer is.
